Diabetics need to have their eyes screened annually by an accredited professional. We have invested in a state-of-the-art digital retinal camera and 2 of our optometrists are accredited by Hinchingbrooke Hospital to allow us to carry out the screening procedure at our Huntingdon practice. The process involves dilation of the pupil after which a photograph is taken, this is then stored on the system to allow year to year comparisons to be made.

Patients with suspected glaucoma are referred from Hinchingbrooke Hospital to our practice to be evaluated by one of our Optometrists with a Special Interest (OSI) in glaucoma. Now with the second phase from September 2008 we will be able to use our HRT 3 to monitor patients referred by the hospital. We are the only practice to date in Huntingdonshire.
Our optometrists work in conjunction with Hinchingbrooke Hospital allowing us to refer patients directly to them when cataracts are ready to be removed.
