Mr Ward is available Friday mornings; please book all DVLA and contact lens checks with Mr Ward. Mrs Hodgson is available Mondays. Consultations are arranged by appointment, however, urgent cases will be seen on the same day when possible, otherwise you will be offered the first available time. We will, if at all possible, give you an appointment with the Optician of your choice.

If you cannot keep your appointment, please let us know and we will be happy to re-arrange your appointment.


Home Visits:
We conduct home visits via our St.Ives practice. Visits can be arranged if you are over sixty, housebound and on benefits. If you are unable to attend any of our practices please contact us and we will be happy to arrange a visit with Mrs Hodgson. Home visits usually take place once or twice a month, local to Huntingdon, St.Ives and Ramsey. Mrs Hodgson will bring a selection of frames to choose when required and arrange fittings when possible. Glaucoma Changes Scheme:
(available at the Huntingdon practice only for Changes 1 & 2, available at Ramsey practice for Changes 1 appointments only). Gathercole & Ward participates in the CHANGES (Community and Hinchingbrooke Allied Network Glaucoma Evaluation) Scheme. Patients who are suspected of having glaucoma are evaluated in the practice by our Optometrists with a Special Interest (OSI) in Glaucoma before either seeing a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Hinchingbrooke Hospital or being discharged to their own Optometrist. In future, our OSIs will be seeing patients with stable glaucoma in the practice, reducing the need for these patients to visit the hospital. The CHANGES scheme was the runner-up in the 2007 ‘Allergan Glaucoma Achievement Award’.



Direct Cataract Referrals/Emergencies:
Our Opticians will refer patients needing their cataract removed directly to Hinchingbrooke Hospital and will notify patient GP’S. All emergencies will be treated as promptly as possible and referred to the hospital when required.

All our Optometrists work in conjunction with Hinchingbrooke Hospital allowing us to refer patients directly to them when cataracts are ready to be removed or an emergency appointment is needed.
